Education: Flagstaff Youth Gardens

We dream that every child in Flagstaff grows up eating healthy local food, knowing where it comes from and who grew it. We see a garden at every school in Flagstaff so are creating a resource website for educators seeking to start or sustain a youth garden at their school. The website will include K-12 curricula aligned to Arizona state standards.

Start a Youth Garden at Your School

Interested in applying for start-up funds for your school garden or need a local experienced gardener to answer your gardening questions? How about introducing gardening principles and practice to your classroom? We can offer assistance in the following ways:

• Provide small start-up funds for your garden. To apply, please download an application (56 KB PDF)
• Put you in touch with a local gardening expert. Email flagstafffoodlink@gmail.com for a list of gardeners in your area.

You can help. We need:

• Experienced and passionate individuals to work with us on the Youth Garden Committee.

• Experienced gardeners to support teachers with their gardens. If you let us know what you are interested in doing and how much time you can give, we will match you up with a teacher and school. We also have a resource list for teachers to use and would like to add you to it.

• Do you have extra seeds, pots, irrigation materials, soil, or tools that you would like to give to a garden in need? Or perhaps you’d like to give a contribution to support youth gardening in Flagstaff? Flagstaff Foodlink is a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization and all gifts are tax-deductible. We can put your donations directly to work in the gardens of our local schools.
