Seed to Table - Root Vegetables

Join Coconino County Cooperative Extension every other Tuesday from 5-7 pm at the Bus Stop Garden for interactive learning opportunities focusing on vegetable preparation, food preservation, nutrition education, high elevation gardening, and other various garden tips. Family-friendly food demonstrations with FREE food are included at each workshop.

This week’s workshop will focus on Root Vegetables. Did you know that growing root vegetables require a lot of water? The City of Flagstaff Water Conservation Program will be joining us for a rainwater harvesting demonstration and will be giving away FREE water totes! This and other root vegetable gardening tips will be provided.


Demonstrations on knife skills to prepare root vegetables and how to best store root vegetables will also be included. Food demonstrations and recipes will include root vegetables in a variety of dishes and meals for enjoyment all-year round!


If you are interested in a FREE water tote, please RSVP to emelhorn@email.arizona.edu. There are a limited supply. Dimensions of the free water tote are 40 inches x 48 inches, with 47 inch height. A small truck or trailer is recommended for pickup at the workshop. Other arrangements can be made with advanced notice.
