FLAGSTAFF FRUIT TREE PROJECT

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Flagstaff Fruit Tree Project is an effort by Flagstaff Foodlink to prevent falling fruit from going to waste.  We connect neighbors with fruit trees with volunteer pickers to harvest fruit that would otherwise go to waste, sharing the bounty between food pantries and participating volunteers.

Flagstaff has a rich history of fruit orchards. Being prepared for bumper crop years is crucial—knowing how to fertilize and care for fruit trees can increase their yield and longevity. The Program is designed to help educate tree owners as well as set them up with community members to help take care of trees. Our aim is to reduce food waste in Flagstaff!

Fruit Tree Sharing

Do you have trees that provide excess fruit? We can help pick the fruit and clean up the mess!

Mature apple trees can produce 200-400 lbs of fruit on a good year! Our partnership with Flagstaff Family Food Center ensures that the food finds a good home in our direct community.

If you are willing to share your fruit with volunteer pickers, fill out the form (right) and we will contact you with next steps!

We invite you to participate in our upcoming Apple Gleaning Events to help reduce food waste and enhance access to fresh local produce for those in need. In partnership with Flagstaff Family Food Center, volunteers will assist in harvesting apples that would otherwise go uncollected, which will be donated to the food bank.

Scheduling is in process! We look forward to sharing event dates soon—be sure to check our social media for the latest updates.
